Exit American College Dance Festival Non-Performer Application Question Title * 1. Name, W#, and Phone Number Question Title * 2. Pronouns Question Title * 3. Emergency Contact: Name, Phone Number, relationship(parent/friend) Question Title * 4. Initial Below that you have read and understand the following:ACDA Overview: What is the American College Dance Association Festival? The festival is a 4 day event that brings together college Dance Departments for classes and performances. This year we will attend the regional festival in Torrence, CA at El Camino Community College April 15-18, 2025 (Week 3 of Spring Qtr.)Travel Information: Students will be responsible for all travel costs associated with attending the festival, flight from Seattle to Los Angeles LAX, Uber or shuttle costs.Dance Classes: There are classes offered during the daytime. Students have the option to take as few as 1 or as many as 3-5 classes each day. Classes may start as early as 8:30am and run until 5:30pm. Classes are taught by the college faculty from around the region. It is encouraged to participate as much as possible, keeping your health and wellness in mind.Students will be granted access to class registration about two weeks before the festival using the WHOVA App. Instructions will be provided for using WHOVA once it goes live for registration._____________________________________________________________________________________Performances: Each college brings a piece to be performed in an evening concert. Performances start time varies each year, from 6:30pm-7:30pm with an average run time of 1.5 hours. This year we are taking a piece choreographed by BFA candidate Emily Petersen. These performances are watched by a panel of 3 adjudicators taking notes on each dance. The adjudicators will hold an open feedback session the following day for anyone who is interested in hearing their notes and ideas about the dances. This feedback is all anonymous, they do not know what school each piece came from or who the choreographer is.At certain festivals, the adjudicators will select 8-10 pieces for a “Gala” performance on Saturday night. At other festivals, the Saturday night is a closing event with a dance party.ACDA Culture: The festival is a way to bring college dancers together to make new connections and honor the plethora of dance programs in our region. Classes are designed to be fun and support a collegial attitude, not one of competition. It is common to see groups applauding each other, cheering each other on in classes, not competing with each other. You will see a wide variety of dance programs attending the festival, some HUGE programs like U of Utah, Brigham Young University, and UC Boulder, and some small programs like Snow College, Westminster College, and some in between!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Student Participation: Attendees should take full advantage of all chances to take class and watch the performances. There have been a few students who chose to watch movies at the hotel the whole time instead of taking classes. Obviously, this is not why we are going to ACDA. Each student needs to decide what level of participation is right for them—if 3 classes a day will be too tiring then take 1-2 classes. If you are 100% exhausted and know that attending the show will push you too far into extreme exhaustion, then making the wellness choice to rest is the right choice._____________________________________________________________________________________Student Resources and Emergency Planning:Attendees should be prepared for the trip with adequate resources in place for the mental/physical requirements of the trip, travel and food costs, and any other incidental costs incurred during the trip. Examples of resources are: access to a counselor or physician, access to financial assistance, or access to a caregiver during travel. If an emergency arises, the student will be responsible for seeking out and paying for these additional resources. Question Title * 5.
