LGBTQ+ friendly naming survey |
We need your good ideas by January 5th!
In 2024, Presbyterian SeniorCare Network — in partnership with Affirmative Investments — is breaking ground to build an LGBTQ+ friendly affordable senior housing community located at the intersection of Forbes and Craft Avenues in Oakland. This new community will have 42 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments, onsite parking, common areas, a parklet, and many other amenities. Click here for more information about the project. The projected opening is in the summer of 2025.
We have established a Project Advisory Committee for this new community, and, at their suggestion, we are reaching out to members and friends of the LGBTQ+ community to suggest names for this historic new residence.
Here are some preliminary considerations for naming the new apartment building:
- It can be geographic, such as an Oakland street name, a neighborhood name, or a reference to a nearby historic landmark.
- It should be a name that resonates with the LGBTQ+ community.
- It could be named for a person who was an advocate for LGBTQ+ issues in the past.
The deadline for submissions is January 5th.
Anyone who includes both their name and email address will be entered into a drawing for a $250 Amazon gift card.
