East Gwillimbury is committed to conserving its unique built heritage. Every municipality in Ontario is required to maintain a register of properties that are of cultural heritage value or interest in the community. East Gwillimbury has 378 listed properties (identified as having potential cultural heritage value) and 13 properties that have been protected by provincial legislation.

The Town is seeking input from residents and businesses to help guide the development of a Municipal ​​Heritage Strategy. The Strategy will assist Council and staff in prioritizing their efforts to support heritage preservation and conservation in the community.
