Introduction of the 6th Lancang-Mekong Business Forum on Jan 10-11, 2024

Mekong Institute (MI) is organizing the sixth Lancang-Mekong Business Forum (LMBF) with the theme of “Promoting Agribusiness and Investment in Processed Food Sector” on January 10-11, 2024 in Beijing, P. R. China. The Business Forum is part of a long-term project funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund (LMCSF) of P. R. China and has been organizing by MI in each of Lancang-Mekong (LM) countries, namely Cambodia, P. R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand since 2018, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. In 2024, MI will cooperate with the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), P. R. China, the China-ASEAN Business Center (CABC), Guangxi, P. R. China to co-organize the 6th LMBF in order to promote agribusiness and processed food sector of LM countries.

The Business Forum is an important platform for the agri-food processing industry value chain actors to i) exchange business information and market opportunities in agri-food processing sector in the LM countries; ii) share innovation and cutting-edge information on green food processing technologies, products and sustainable business models; iii) establish business connections between Chinese companies and other LM countries and beyond; iv) to understand China’s agri-food processing market, trade and investment policies and incentives, and identify potential business partners.

The 6th LMBF will include following sub-activities: 
1) Business Seminar, Jan 10, 2024, 09:00-12:30, Beijing, About 100-120 seats;
2) 1:1Business Matching, Jan 10, 2024, 13:30-17:30, Beijing, 40 tables, 9 time slots, 20 mins/slot;
3) Products Exhibition, Jan 10, 2024, full-day;
4) Structured Learning Visit, Jan 11, 2024 08:00-17:30. 

Target participants (around 100 participants):

1) 30 non-Chinese companies from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, or their representatives based in these countries and/or nearby countries (traders/investors/service providers.

MI will cover the cost of i) round-trip economic class of international air tickets (up to the given budget per ticket), ii) airport transfer in Beijing, P.R.China, iii) local transport during SLV, iv) two-day lunch and v) the 3-night four-star hotel accommodation in Beijing on Jan 9-11, 2024. The cost of travel and health insurance, Chinese visa and home country transporation etc. are NOT covered by MI. 

2) 50 Chinese companies based in Beijing and other provinces of P.R.China (e.g. suppliers/producers/traders/service providers). 

3) 20 other stakeholders: agri-food processing development relevant chamber of commerce, business associations, IGO and government agencies based in P.R.China.
