Eligibility and Application Instructions

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Center for Policy & Leadership (CPL) is accepting applications for participation in the 2025 PRIMED (Preparing Experts in Reproductive Medicine to Engage Decisionmakers) Scholars Program. Eligibility and logistical details follow.
Submissions are due by December 2, 2024. Admission decisions will be issued in early 2025.
About the Opportunity
This unique professional development opportunity delivers comprehensive, skill-based training through a hybrid of in-person and online modules throughout the year. It is designed to energize and educate ASRM members on advocacy fundamentals.
Upon program completion, participants will be equipped with advocacy skills. PRIMED Scholars will be eligible to serve as future faculty and advisors to the CPL. They will be featured in future CPL outreach materials. They may be called upon to participate in ASRM/CPL programming, such as the Policy Matters podcast, and as mentors to prospective PRIMED Program participants.
Program participants are expected to complete the following course requirements:
Online Training Modules: Participants are expected to join several online teaching sessions. Each module will cover a unique topic (e.g., the US legislative process, effective advocacy communications, using social media to advocate) and build upon other modules that are considered mandatory. While dates are still being confirmed, note that these sessions, to be conducted through Zoom, will be held at times convenient for and agreed upon by the cohort. If there are specific dates that you are unavailable or accommodations/requests regarding these sessions you wish to flag, please do so using the “any other insights” question on this application form.
In-Person, Washington DC practical experience: Participants must join us for one session hosted at our Washington, DC headquarters. Attendees will visit Capitol Hill and other DC landmarks and meet with and hear from policy experts, including ASRM’s government affairs team, staff, and Members of Congress, to gain hands-on learning and experience in the nation’s capital. See pictures and details from the 2024 Cohort's members and experience here.
Capstone Projects: Each participant must complete a capstone project on a relevant topic. Cohort members are welcome to partner or work in groups. Potential projects include white papers, fact sheets, toolkits, etc. Upon program completion, CPL PRIMED Scholars are expected to present their research at the in-person Washington DC meeting and at ASRM’s 2025 Annual Congress and Expo in San Antonio, TX (October 25-29, 2025).
Program Eligibility and Costs
The program is free and open by application to up to twelve ASRM members who demonstrate a vested interest in advancing policy work and demonstrable skills and expertise that will further the underlying mission and priorities of ASRM and ASRM CPL. While US citizenship should not be required for participation, the focus of this program is domestic policymaking, and course offerings will occur based on the US EST timeframe (with consideration taken for those in other time zones).
ASRM is once again planning to reimburse PRIMED-related expenses to defray participation costs. Additional details will be provided upon acceptance.
