We are seeking to improve our understanding of the housing conditions of those living in Indiana.

To do this, we are collecting stories and photos from Hoosiers impacted by the current housing crisis and poor housing conditions. This approach is called “photovoice” and allows us to connect your stories with the images you share to bring awareness to the impact of the housing crisis on everyday Hoosiers. By sharing your experiences and images of your housing situation, you are helping us better understand the housing conditions of our neighbors, which will help us inform legislators and the public of the struggles everyday people experience with housing in Indiana.

We ask, when taking photos of your housing conditions or the impact of the housing crisis on your life, that you do not share with us:

  • Personal sensitive information such as bills or your address
  • Photos of other homes or living conditions that are not your own
  • Images that are not relevant to the topic of your experience with housing and the impact on your life
  • Faces of others who have not consented to sharing their stories or image, this includes family members, children and friends (they are welcome to complete the survey if they would like to participate and are 18 years of age)

The inclusion of any of the following could lead to the removal and rejection of your story being shared/used.

All information collected will have identifying aspects removed to protect your privacy such as specific names, individuals, organizations and locations. This is called de-identifying your data. Ways we may share the collected de-identified data could include:

  • Sharing of the photos you provided with legislators and the public
  • Putting your images/text in publications like reports or fact sheets
  • Sharing de-identified stories and information with legislators and other public facing media to bring awareness to the ways we can improve the housing conditions of those in Indiana.

If you complete this survey, you are consenting to the sharing of the information you provide in a de-identified manner for research and advocacy efforts.
