Listing and annotation: Calcium carbonate
Use: As a natural non-agricultural product allowed as an ingredient/processing aid in or on processed products labeled as "organic" or "made with (specified organic ingredients/food groups)".
Common applications: Chalk. Removes shine from tale. Occurs naturally in limestone, marble and coral. Used as a white food dye and alkali to reduce acidity in wine up to 2/5 %, a neutralizer for ice and and in cream syrups up to .25%, and in baking powder up to 50 %. Employed as a carrier for bleaches. Also used as an alkali to reduce acidity, a neutralizer and firming agent.
