Captain: Megan Mularz ALABAMA (Mobile)--Volunteers in the Gulf Coast area (AL, FL and MS) will cook a meal for the family residents of the Ronald McDonald House whose children are inpatients at the Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile. Captain: Leah Biggs CALIFORNIA (San Diego)--San Diego Coastkeeper Beach Clean Up Event: The Surfrider Foundation, San Diego Chapter hosts a beach cleanup at Ocean Beach Pier. Our local beaches are protected by volunteers, just like you! We welcome you to a fun day in the sand with family, friends and new acquaintances while removing trash and raising awareness about plastic pollution. Volunteers will meet at Ocean Beach Veterans’ Plaza, south of the lifeguard tower. Captain: Rachael Bartels HAWAII (Honolulu)--Loko I`a Pa`aiau Pond Clean Up: WHO: HII Hawaii based employees and family members, the Armed Services YMCA and its supported Military Ohana WHEN: Nov. 4 specific times to be announce. Morning to early afternoon. WHERE: 122-184 McGrew Loop, Aiea, HI 96701 WHY: Engage with the local community and learn about a significant historic Hawaiian cultural site located on Joint Base Pearly Harbor-Hickam. Activities may include helping to rebuild the wall enclosure of a Hawaiian fishpond, removal of invasive plants, and planting of native species. You can expect to get muddy, at little sweaty, and thoroughly educated. Sunscreen, bug spray, shoes that can get muddy, gloves, and maybe a hat are recommended. Family members are welcome. Parking is limited so please kokua and carpool if possible. Captain: Chris Loftis MARYLAND (Baltimore)--Maryland FoodBank: The team will complete a variety of tasks such as sorting non-perishable food items, packing food for a Mobile Pantry, preparing youth-friendly food bags for the Backpack Program, repacking bulk food, or sanitizing and cleaning the warehouse. This project will take place on Friday, Nov. 10 and can support up to 10 volunteers. Captain: Teda Lightfoot-Dotson MASSACHUSETTS (Pocasset)--Homeless for the Holidays Bourne--Unmanned Systems volunteers will collect non-perishable food items and cash donations through Nov. 2. Captain: Stacey Ferazzi NEW JERSEY (Blackwood)--The Unforgotten Haven: A team of volunteers will prepare meals for clients of The Unforgotten Haven - a non-profit organization whose mission is to help the less fortunate. They work in partnership with churches and other community organizations. Most of the Unforgotten Haven’s services and donations are used in our local community. However, our services are not county-based or state-based. We help wherever there is need. This includes conducting hurricane relief missions to Louisiana, North Carolina, and Florida. Captains: Julee Purificato and Laura Moore OHIO (Dayton)--Dayton Habitat for Humanity: Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity to support their "Restore." The team will stock shelves, clean, and assist customers. Captain: Colin Smith SOUTH CAROLINA (Aiken)--United Way of Aiken: Volunteers will build a home ramp which provides wheel chair/walker access for an individual/family in need. Captain: Janice Lawson TEXAS (Corpus Christi)--Agape Ranch Bed Build: Assist with building beds from scratch to support qualified families in the Corpus Christi, TX region. There will be 12 stations to accomplish the bed builds. Each station will have instructions on what needs to be done. The builds will happen via assembly line. The goal is to build 15 beds. Materials, drills and sanders will be provided. Volunteers need to bring their own safety equipment (gloves, safety goggles, etc.). This event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7. Captain: Anthony Navarrette TEXAS (Corpus Christi)--International Seamen's Center Fundraiser: The Corpus Christi International Seamen's Center is a non-profit, multi-denominational Christian organization that seeks to provide an environment for thousands of seafarers from all nations annually visiting the Port of corpus Christi, thereby meeting their physical, social, and spiritual needs, without regard to age, sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, or national origin. We are will be providing volunteers to help with the registration, logistics, silent auction, serving meals, set up and breakdown. This event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Captain: Michael Brady TEXAS (San Antonio)--Community Clean Up: Let's do our part to keep San Antonio beautiful. Volunteers will work together to pick up trash and debris from a pre-designated area in the community. These efforts help support clean, safe, and resilient neighborhoods. Captain: Arpita Saraiya VIRGINIA (Haymarket)--Willing Warriors--Willing Warriors is a "home away from home" for the wounded, ill and injured service members, disabled veterans and their families. Volunteers will set tables and chairs and complete other tasks to help staff prepare for their annual “Home Away from Home Thanksgiving” for soldiers and their visiting family members. This event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18. Captain: Cetta Flosi VIRGINIA (McLean)--Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event: 8:00-10:30am | Join colleagues and local community members for a Meal Packaging Experience in the movement to end hunger. In partnership with Rise Against Hunger, HII Mission Technologies will work alongside other teams of volunteers in packaging meals to help the organization meet its goal of providing over 200,000 meals. The activity will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLean, VA. Rise Against Hunger meals are distributed through global partners that administer school feeding programs, orphanages, health clinics, vocational training and respond to crises. Captains: Brianna Grant and Christiane Lourenco VIRGINIA (Newport News)--Carver Elementary Angel Tree Holiday Gift Drive: Employees in the Hampton Roads area are encouraged to donate unwrapped gifts to support the annual Angel Tree holiday gift drive for Carver Elementary School students. Captain: Ashley Williams VIRGINIA (Newport News)--LINK of Hampton Roads: LINK of Hampton Roads provides emergency services and shelter for veterans facing homelessness. The project will involve painting at the the organization's veterans home locations in Newport News. Captain: Shirley Furman VIRGINIA (Newport News)--Menchville House: Menchville House provides emergency shelter services for women and their children. Volunteers will assist with light repairs and environmental clean-up projects. Captain: Dave Saba VIRGINIA (Newport News)--Peninsula Heart Walk: The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premier event for raising funds to save lives from this country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke. Captain: April Stoker VIRGINIA (Norfolk)--Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child: The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Samaritan’s Purse collects shoebox gifts through a process made possible by caring individuals who pack shoeboxes full of quality gifts, toys, school supplies and hygiene items. Many of these shoebox packers also use the "Follow Your Box" feature to discover the country where their gift will be delivered. FoodBank of SEVA Marathon Food Donation Drive--Volunteers will work together to collect, sort and pack food items in this fun, outdoor event. The Mayflower Marathon is the FoodBank of Southeastern VIrginia and the Virginia Pensisula FoodBank's largest holiday food drive and has helped put millions of meals on the table for families experiencing food insecurity over the last 25 years. This event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18.
