Cast Your Award Nominations for the 211th VMS Annual Meeting!

Each year the Vermont Medical Society solicits nominations for its:

  • Distinguished Service Award - The Distinguished Service Award is the highest award the Society can bestow upon one of its members. It shall be awarded on the basis of meritorious service in the science and art of medicine and of outstanding contribution to the medical profession, its organizations, and the welfare of the public.
  • Physician of the Year Award - The recipient must be a physician licensed in the state of Vermont who has: demonstrated outstanding performance in the quality of care given to his/her patients; demonstrated skillful and compassionate patient care, and; demonstrated dedication to the welfare of his/her patients in accordance with accepted principles of good medical practice.
  • Physician Award for Community Service - The recipient must be a physician licensed in the state of Vermont; The recipient must be living. Awards are not presented posthumously; The recipient has not been a previous recipient of the Award; The recipient has compiled an outstanding record of community service, which reflects well on the profession.
  • Citizen of the Year Award - The recipient must be a non-physician resident of the state of Vermont who in the past and presently has made a significant contribution to the health of the people in Vermont.
  • Founders’ Award - The Vermont Medical Society Founders’ Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, vision and achievement in improving the health of Vermonters and all Americans.
The VMS Committee on Awards will be accepting nominations for these awards until August 23, 2024.

The awards will be presented during the Awards Banquet the evening of Friday, November 1st.
