2024 Kern County Chapter Contract Action Team "CAT" |
TAKE ACTION TO WIN A GOOD CONTRACT AND A BETTER KERN COUNTY.
BECOME A CAT MEMBER!
Our current union contract under the County of Kern expires on June 30, 2024. Management knows that when thousands of us workers are united, organized, and taking collective action, we send a message that we mean business about our union contract and our working conditions must improve.
What does a Contract Action Team (CAT) do?
The Contract Action Team is a volunteer team and the bridge between SEIU members at the worksite and members at the bargaining table. With your involvement in our union Contract Action Team, we can educate our coworkers about what management says if they reject our proposals and empower each other to stand up for what’s right and in LARGE NUMBERS. CAT members' duties include:
- Serve as a bridge between the bargaining team and the broader union membership, ensuring that concerns are accurately conveyed.
- Encourage members to attend union meetings, participate in actions, and show solidarity during negotiations.
- Organize and mobilize members to win a strong contract and improve our jobs
- Share materials at worksites on key issues, updates, and protests/actions during critical phases of the negotiation process
- Spread urgent information from the bargaining table to your worksite
- Attend regular CAT meetings to plan, strategize, and execute next steps
