MDAV and cohealth Media Diversity Database
Given Australia’s increasingly culturally and linguistically diverse society, MDA Victoria and cohealth are working toward achieving the same level of diversity in newsrooms.
One way to do this is to provide journalists and newsrooms with a diverse talent and expert directory that they can turn to when looking for people to interview or invite on panels etc.
This is why we are developing a Victoria Multicultural Directory for journalists and communication specialists as a practical tool to help elevate CALD voices and expertise in the mainstream media.
The following survey should not take more than 10 minutes to complete. The information you provide about your background and expertise will help journalists search for relevant people to interview -- whether it is for a story about race and religion or one that draws on legal, economic or business expertise.
Please note: You will still be the one to determine which interview requests you say yes and no to. This will be your decision and one that can be made on a case by case basis.
MDA Victoria and cohealth sincerely appreciate your time and together, we can shift the narrative within our newsrooms, across our media and social discourse to providing a more inclusive and accurate representation of CALD communities in Australia.
Please note you will need to complete all questions before you can submit your response.
We also have a media training handbook that all directory participants will recieve once their profile is uploaded onto the directory.
MDAV and cohealth respect your privacy and as such, all responses will be used for the purposes of the MDAV Diversity Database only. MDAV is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other relevant State laws relating to managing your personal information. Information can be viewed here.
