Age Friendly businesses are people friendly businesses!

The older adult consumer base is diverse, fast-growing, and controls a significant share of discretionary spending in the United States. Did you know that currently 32% of Cape Ann residents are age 60 or older and that number is projected to jump to 40% by 2030?

Age Friendly businesses implement simple strategies to create a welcoming environment that attracts, serves, and retains older adult customers. There are practical, no-cost or low-cost changes that can make businesses more age friendly, some examples include:

- Keep aisles clear
- Install well-lit signage with large, clear fonts
- Make websites easy to navigate with zoom control/text resize features
- Offer home delivery
- Provide staff training on how best to work with older adults
- Assure information is available online and via telephone

Making simple changes that benefit older customers is good for all customers.
