Southern Highlands Equine Industry Survey 2023 |
Introduction
Grow Southern Highlands is proud to be undertaking this Equine Industry Survey 2023 as part of an Equine Industry Development pilot project. This innovative, Australian first, is in collaboration with Destination Sydney Surrounds South, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Destination Southern Highlands and the Southern Highlands Key Stakeholders Group. This project aims to identify the significance of the equine sector in the Southern Highlands. This process may be adopted by other regions.
Most people outside of the equine sector will be pleasantly surprised to learn about the diverse nature and scale of the industry in the Southern Highlands. For example, there are professional activities such as thoroughbred breeding and racing, performance horse breeding, veterinary and other support services, tertiary qualifications including skills training through TAFE, and a vast array of other activities. Activities are as diverse as camp drafting, carriage driving, eventing, polo and polo crosse, leisure riding, pony clubs and even a donkey association. There are retail and wholesale businesses and facilities such as sporting fields, arenas, showgrounds, a racetrack and places to go trail riding.
We are delighted to collaborate with other equine stakeholders to distribute this survey and seek assistance from people who have horses in the Southern Highlands to take approximately 15 minutes to complete this important survey. If you provide your name and email address at the end of this survey, we will share the survey results with you.
