About the Co-Chair Role
The Co-Chair role is the lead volunteer position and will help guide the ride throughout the year from initial planning all the way through to a successful arrival in Montreal.

The Co-Chair role is the lead volunteer position and will help guide the ride throughout the year from initial planning all the way through to a successful arrival in Montreal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set expectations with Steering Committee members based on the multi-year priorities, goals and strategic directions as well as those of PWA. This includes: goal setting, communications, procedures, processes, and documentation
- Chair Steering Committee meetings
- Manage the volunteers by providing support, coaching, consultation and advice
- Actively participate on the Executive Committee
- Work closely with PWA staff
Time requirements fluctuate throughout the year and increase around the time of the event. These are in addition to any regular participant activities (ie. training, socials, etc.)
- September-December: 2-4 hours per week
- January-May: 4-8 hours per week
- June-August: 8-12 hours per week
These time estimates include bi-weekly Operations Team meetings, one monthly Steering Committee Meeting and one quarterly Executive Committee meeting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational ability
- Excellent volunteer management and program coordination skills;
- Knowledge of the complexity of issues relating to HIV/AIDS;
- Knowledge of anti-Black racism, anti-Indigenous racism, anti-oppression, greater and meaningful involvement of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS (GIPA/MIPA), harm reduction, sex positivity and trauma informed care;
- Lived experience of HIV/AIDS, 2SLGBTIQ, BIPOC, substance use, mental health challenges, homelessness, and/or the effects of poverty is an asset
- Demonstrated success building, cultivating and stewarding relationships
Qualifications
- Past participant in the Bike Rally
- Past participation as a member of the Bike Rally Steering Committee
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous work in a volunteer context
