Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control and Greenway District - 2021 Survey |
Introduction
A watershed (or drainage basin) is an area of land where all the water in the basin is collected and moved to a common outlet by rivers, streams and creeks. Watersheds are like nesting dolls - small watersheds are nested in larger watersheds!
We live in the Fountain Creek Watershed, a 927 square mile area that includes the City of Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Our watershed begins on the north side of Pikes Peak and ends where Fountain Creek meets the Arkansas River in Pueblo. See the map below to understand how water drains into Fountain Creek.
The Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control and Greenway District (District) was created in 2009 to improve our watershed by building trails and parks that creates Greenspace for us to enjoy. The District also does projects to prevent flooding, erosion and improve water quality.

We want your input to better understand levels of awareness that can help influence our District’s work in the watershed as well as feedback on topics for our enewsletter articles. Your participation in this brief 5-7 minute survey is greatly appreciated!
