Thank you for your interest in serving as an industry mentor during the upcoming academic year. Mentoring a CWIT Scholar is a year long commitment of approximately 1-2 hours (virtually) per month. This year we anticipate matching approximately thirty-five of our junior CWIT Scholars, second year T-SITE Transfer Scholars, and continuing Cyber Scholars with industry mentors.
Our Scholars will participate in an Industry Mentoring Practicum that meets twice a month in the Fall semester, on Fridays 3 - 4:30 pm from September through November. Industry mentors are invited to participate in the practicum and share their experiences and advice with the Scholars. Participation in the practicum is optional. The practicum is highly interactive and includes small groups activities and discussions about the benefits of mentoring, articulating strengths and skills, typical career paths, developing career goals, and corporate cultures.
The information you provide below will be used to intentionally match applicants with specific Scholars. Matches will be made for the fall semester and all applicants will be notified of the status of their application by early September . While we would love to match all applicants with a Scholar, you may not be selected depending on the number and backgrounds of the pool of applications we receive.
If you are not selected as a mentor, please consider participating in other CWIT events throughout the coming year. More information about ways for industry professionals to be involved is available on the CWIT website, www.cwit.umbc.edu.
