JM Design rtr Irish wagons
JM Design is a designer and manufacturer of Irish custom railway models and kits, are considering introducing a range of highly detailed models of traditional Irish goods wagons in conjunction with Irish Railway Models
We focus on models of locomotives and rolling stock that operated on the Great Southern Railways and CIE railway system between the mid 1920s and the mid 1950s.
Our first wagons are based on types introduced in the 1920s onwards that continued in use into the early 1970s.
GSR/Ranks Grain wagon.
Our first planned rtr wagon is a model of the bulk grain wagons introduced by the GSR in the mid 1930s that continued in use until the end of wagon load grain traffic on the CIE system in the mid 1970s.
The bulk grain wagon fleet included a number of wagons owner by Ranks Ireland Limited one of the few types of private owner wagon in use on the GSR & CIE system during the loose coupled era.

Irish Standard 10T Open wagon
Our second planned model is based on a standard design introduced by the Irish Railway Clearing House following WW1, built and used extensively by the GSR, GNR(I) & CIE up to the introduction of Bulleid all steel "corrugated" open wagons in the mid 1950s. The wooden bodied open wagons continued in use into the early 1970s for general merchandise traffic, sugar beet, gypsum, and even to carry British Rail style B & D containers.

As the grain and open wagons are the first rtr models of Irish traditional wagons and the level of demand for wagons of this era are uncertain, our project planning and costings are based on the minimum production run allowed by Irish Railway Models Chinese factories.
