KEY INFORMATION
This study will examine whether individuals' spirituality is significantly associated with mental health among Korean immigrants. If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey. The survey questionnaire includes items on your demography, immigrant-related experiences, religiosity, spirituality, and mental health, specifically levels of anxiety and depression. There are no foreseeable discomforts and risks associated with the study participation. This study is for the completion of the investigator’s dissertation, and the collected data will only be used by the investigator. While there are no direct benefits to you, your participation will contribute to the improved understanding of Korean immigrants’ mental health. This improved understanding can help to develop programs and services that promote Korean immigrants’ mental well-being.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
You are invited to participate in the study as Korean adult immigrants. In the study, you will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey that inquires about your spirituality and mental health.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a significant relationship between individuals’ spirituality and their mental health, particularly depression and anxiety.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURES
In the study, you will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey. The survey includes questions on your demography, immigrant-related experiences, religiosity, spirituality, and mental health, specifically levels of anxiety and depression. It is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete the survey.

DISCOMFORTS AND RISKS
There are no foreseeable discomforts and risks associated with your participation. If there are any questions you don’t feel comfortable answering, you are free to skip these questions. You may stop the questionnaire at any time.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Your information will be kept confidential to the extent provided by law, with the exception of possible review by the Human Research Advisory Committee, the Department of Health and Human Services, and/or the Office of Human Research Protection. In this study, no identifying information will be collected, and your responses will remain anonymous. In addition, the findings of the study will only be reported in an aggregated form. Your responses to the questionnaire will be downloaded and stored in the investigator’s computer, and this computer will not be accessible to any other individuals.
RISKS DURING PREGNANCY
There are no foreseeable risks for individuals with pregnancy.

EXPECTED BENEFITS
There will be no direct benefits for your participation in the study. However, your participation will contribute to the improved understanding of Korean immigrants’ mental health. This can help to develop mental health services more accessible and relevant to Korean immigrants.
 
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE STUDY
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You are free to decline to participate in the study or withdraw from the study at any time. Not participating in or withdrawing from this study will not have any negative consequences. If there are any questions you feel uncomfortable answering, you are free to skip these questions.
 
COSTS AND PAYMENTS

No cost or payment is required to participate in this study.

FUTURE USE OF DATA STATEMENT
This study is for the completion of the investigator’s dissertation. The data collected in this study may be used in the future to further explore the spirituality and mental health among Korean immigrants. However, the data will only be used by the investigator, and not be shared with anyone else. Because the study uses an anonymous survey method, your identity will remain unknown in future studies as in this study.
