2018 NAMI Virginia Membership Survey on Access Issues and Priorities

Welcome to NAMI Virginia's 2018 Membership Survey!   Thanks to the advocacy efforts of NAMI members like you, our affiliates across the Commonwealth, and our stakeholder partners, we are slowly making inroads in improving our state mental health system.   Most notably, the General Assembly's approval of expansion of the Virginia Medicaid program after five long years of advocacy will enable an estimated 400,000 uninsured Virginians, many of whom have mental health treatment needs, to access health coverage beginning January 1, 2019. 

 

But, despite recent successes, our work isn't done; there are several ongoing system reform efforts, including the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services' System Transformation, Excellence and Performance in Virginia (STEP-VA) Initiative, and the work of the Joint Subcommittee to Study Mental Health Services in the Twenty-First Century (also known as the SJ 47 Commission or the Deeds Commission).  In addition, this fall, the Governor will be putting forth amendments to the state budget and bills for consideration by Virginia's lawmakers when the 2019 legislative session convenes in January.

 

To that end we are asking you, our members, to respond to the NAMI Virginia 2018 Membership Survey on Access and Priorities so we can focus our efforts where you believe they are most needed. You can complete this survey for yourself and/or on behalf of a loved one with mental health needs. You can also opt to complete two versions of the survey, one on behalf of yourself and your own personal experiences, and one on behalf of your loved one to reflect their experiences.  To do that, complete and submit the first version of the survey, close the browser window, and then navigate again to the survey using the same web link.

Please note that the survey is for official NAMI members only! If you are not a member but wish to join please go to https://www.nami.org/get-involved/join to join today. Then you are welcome to complete the survey. 

The deadline to respond is 5:00 pm on Friday, August 31. Your responses to the survey are anonymous and confidential, although there is a place to leave your name and contact information for those who want to do that.
