Land Use Planning for Natural Hazards Handbook |
Contribute to the development of the Land Use Planning for Natural Hazards handbook
Manual 7 in the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection: Planning Safer Communities: Land Use Planning for Natural Hazards (2002), is scheduled for review and transition to a new Land Use Planning Handbook.
The new Land Use Planning for Natural Hazards Handbook will provide guidance on national principles and practices for land use planning in a disaster resilience context.
This survey is aimed at identifying areas of the current Manual that need to be updated, re-organised or changed to reflect current principles and practice and align with the National Strategy for Disaster Resilience.
The current Manual is available on the AIDR Knowledge Hub: https://knowledge.aidr.org.au/media/1958/manual-7-planning-safer-communities.pdf
The Planning Institute of Australia’s (PIA) publication: National Land Use Planning Guidelines for Disaster Resilient Communities (2016) is a complementary document to the development of a new Land Use for Natural Hazards Planning Handbook. Your consideration of the PIA’s guidelines would also be appreciated.
The PIA’s publication is available online at: https://www.planning.org.au/policy/national-land-use-planning-guidelines-for-disaster-resilient-communities-2
This survey is being conducted by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (www.aidr.org.au). Taking part is anonymous and should take about 15 minutes.
