Motivational Design for Citizen Engagement |
Welcome to the official kickoff of the Motivational Design for Citizen Engagement research study!
The "big question" for the application of Motivational Design for Citizen Engagement is How can we make this something people want to be part of?
The theory states that government services and products rely on citizen engagement; that citizen engagement is based on motivation; that motivation at a high level involves a vast, nebulous set of factors; and that these factors can be methodically researched and resolved using concepts from gaming and game development. These can include video games, tabletop games, sports, racing, and gambling.
(You do not need to play games, understand motivational psychology, or know anything about specific games to participate!)
Government services and products are notoriously designed with a focus on how specific tools can be used, but in reality, they need to be designed with focus on citizens' needs and desires (motivations). A framework is needed to help guide agencies and teams in understanding and changing their focus accordingly.
Your response to this survey is an important part of understanding how motivational design relates to other concepts, how it is used, and which areas of Motivational Design would be the best field research areas. Your responses are completely anonymous and no text answers will be shared or reported verbatim. This survey is expected to take 11-15 minutes to complete.
