Scots College - Information sharing and building learning partnerships

Parent Survey

Last year, the NZ Ministry of Education released a series of three guides collectively titled "Leading Local Curriculum". One of the guides deals specifically with sharing information about students' learning and progress.

Much of the information provided on the Ministry's website about student reporting is informed by Reporting to Parents and Whanau -  Background Paper  by Evaluation Associates.

The background paper outlines 7 principles:
  1. Ako (overarching principle)
  2. Focus and coverage
  3. Foundations for learning
  4. Student responsibility
  5. Motivation
  6. Technologies
  7. Checking in with parents

In line with Ministry advice, at Scots College we are reviewing our reporting practices and seeking input from teachers, parents and students.

Specifically, we are seeking to provide clear procedures around
  • reporting
  • parent/teacher conversations
  • use of feedback to students.

Involving parents' thoughts and opinions about each of the three aspects is important to developing the procedures around them.

We would appreciate your input, through the completion of this survey.  All responses are anonymous.
