2024 FESTIVAL OF TREES DESIGN GUIDELINES

Greeley Festival of Trees is a long tradition and well-loved event showcasing creative holiday trees from local communities. In its 35th year in 2024, the Festival of Trees will reflect the whimsical to celebrate a long history of holiday tradition. Businesses, organizations, and creatives are invited to propose a holiday display that speaks to the uniqueness, history heritage, and creative stories of Greeley. The festival strives for a new experience each year, so applicants are encouraged to returning with original and new designs for 2024.

For estimating the space you need for your design, if you are presenting a tree without items under or around it, 5 feet will be ample. If you are doing a display with minimal items under or around it, a 6 feet space should be sufficient. If your display includes an elaborate “holiday scene” with your tree, it may require up to 7 or 8 feet of space. Please make sure you are using all your requested display space when installing your design!

The designs are displayed on the first and second floors of the Union Colony Civic Center lobbies. The main and second floor lobbies’ ceilings are 11 ½ ft. high. Under the stairs on the main floor and the second floor west wall will accommodate a display of 6 - 8 ft. high. Most areas can accommodate a 6 ft. depth; There are a few spaces allowing a 4 ft. depth for tall but thin displays.

The festival provides framed signs that include the business, organization or individual’s name and an assigned number placed used for voting by patrons. You may include a separate business advertising sign in your display area NO LARGER THAN 11X14.

No walls or barriers creating an obstruction of your neighbor’s tree display may be used.

Only the UCCC Technical Staff are allowed to remove or adjust lobby lights.

Certain UCCC lobby wall space is unsuitable for wall hangings, vignettes, props or backdrops. If you intend to include such items in your display, please notify Megan Weiler by email at megan.weiler@greeleygov.com so that the display can be designated at an appropriate location for a wire/hook system provided by the UCCC and/or 3M removable hook products designed for temporary fastening.

Due to public health concerns, we do not allow nuts (including peanut butter) in/on displays.

Decorators are required to provide a tree skirt or other covering material for the base of the tree.

You may use any size of lights as long as they are UL listed for use on Christmas trees and for indoor use. The large-bulb outdoor lights will not be permitted, because of the heat they generate.

Battery operated lights are not allowed.

Installation of creative displays will be November 25-27, 2024. Additional details will be provided upon acceptance.
