Rightsizing |
Welcome
So, what size of home might be right for you?
This survey is seeking to gauge the appetite for ‘rightsizing’ - which some folk might call 'downsizing' - where people are looking to purchase their own, individual property in a not-for-profit housing development that, while potentially smaller than their current home, has the potential to be so much ‘better’, potentially money-saving, such as lower heating bills.
The possibilities are endless for housing that is collectively-designed, including:
(A-Z) Acoustic (noise) insulation - Ban on long or short-term letting, except by the corporate body - Balconies - Biodiversity - Bowling green - Car parking mostly out of sight - Common insurance - Elevator access - Fireproof safe within homes - Future-proofing, for when we get older - Generous storage space - Guest bedrooms - Help with the admin of changing a postal address - High environmental standards - Inventory of spare parts and maps of cabling and piping - Orchard - Outdoor communal garden - Outdoor private gardens - Outdoor seating - Photographic and text-based record of your home being built - Pop-up gym - Proactive maintenance and repair regime - Rain garden - Reading room and books library - Residents’ lounge - Sharing (and thus saving) of resources, such as cars, power tools, washing machines, laundry drying space, etc - Studio space and workshops - Super-secure door entry system (eg two doors, keys impossible to copy, video door entry, etc) - Table tennis table - Tennis court - Thermal (warmth) insulation - Trees - Wildlife pond - Window shutters
There is also the possibility of residents contributing towards the provision of several ‘community tasks’, such as gardening, maintenance and repair and shopping for neighbours.
Please note, the information you provide here will be held securely and will not be shared with any third party, except in the broadest, aggregated sense (eg 90 per cent of respondents said they are considering ‘rightsizing’ within the next year or two).
And also please note, this survey is not a guarantee that anything tangible will actually happen. It’s just a data-gathering exercise, in the hope of establishing the necessary conditions.
