Committee and member role descriptions

The Oregon Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) advises the Oregon Health Authority, the Oregon Health Policy Board, and elected leaders in Oregon about ways to improve or support Medicaid and related programs in Oregon. This includes the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), Healthier Oregon Plan (HOP), and Medicaid supports for people who need in-home or out-of-home (residential) supports. The MAC is required by federal law.

The Advancing Consumer Experience subcommittee is for those who receive Medicaid or OHP or HOP and their family members to share their experience and ideas about how to make the programs work better for all. OHA believes that hearing from those who receive Medicaid/OHP/HOP is a very important part of making them work better. We want to hear directly from you about how you experience enrollment and staying enrolled, and how you are able to find the dental, mental and physical health care you need in your community.

Key responsibilities of subcommittee members include:
  • Attend subcommittee meetings (currently virtual via Zoom).
  • Recommend issues for program improvements to MAC.
  • In collaboration with the MAC, develop policy or operational recommendations to improve Medicaid consumer experience.
  • Advise OHA staff who produce an annual report outlining policy and operational recommendations.
As a committee member, it is your right to:
  • Get answers to questions you might have.
  • Receive information in a way you can understand.
  • Get interpretation services if you speak another language.
  • Bring your voice and advocate for fellow consumers.
  • Be paid for subcommittee work (if qualified) and reimbursed for travel expenses when required.
For more information and materials from previous meetings, go to the MAC’s website..

The application process is two-steps.
  1. Complete this initial form.
  2. After we screen candidates, we will ask you to submit additional information about yourself using a different application.

If you have challenges getting the care you or your family members need, please reach out to OHP Client Services (800-273-0557 or TTY 711) or the OHA Ombuds program (1-877-642-0450 or TTY 711 and OHA.OmbudsOffice@odhsoha.oregon.gov) for support. ACE is the forum for OHP members to share ideas about what works well and what doesn’t work well in Oregon's Medicaid programs, as well as what OHA can do to make sure all OHP members can receive the right care from the right providers at the right time to meet their needs.
