At the verge of suspending standing orders that enable Bills to be subjected to committees so that the 9th Amendment to the Constitution Bill would not be subjected to the Committee, DPE petitioned and today the Bill is in the Committee and subject to public scrutiny. Different views are expressed, which of them represents yours?
(i) DPE is correct, people must be consulted especially when constitution is changed.
OR
(ii) It is not necessary to consult people because MPs know people’s view on this issue
OR
(iii) DPE is simply protecting the incumbent Prime Minister
4.
Prohibiting Prime Minister from advising the King to dissolve parliament following lose of confidence of parliament is one of the issues discussed within the reforms, do you
(i) regard it prudent that it is taken out of others and addressed by parliament immediately
OR
(ii) think it must wait and be dealt with collectively with others within the reforms process
OR
5.
Though the desire is to prohibit Prime Minister from advising the king to dissolve parliament after losing confidence of parliament, the Bill includes reducing time of prorogation, introduces caretaker government, curtailing protecting parliament by disallowing Prime Minister to advice on dissolution unless such is supported by 2/3 majority of the National Assembly.
(i) These issues must be included in the Bill because they are linked to prohibiting Prime Minister from advising the King to dissolve parliament
OR
(ii) Do due diligence to exclusively deal with prohibition of Prime Minister from advising King on the dissolution upon loss of confidence of parliament and leave the rest to be deal with in the reforms process.
