HSA Insurance Survey of Members – December 2020

The HSA has had many calls from concerned members regarding the difficulty in obtaining renewals for their building and contents insurance.

The insurance market for Australian Ski Lodges is in a hard market cycle. Two prominent insurers have recently exited the sector, leaving many Ski Lodges uninsured.

Additional supply of insurer capacity from new underwriters has been slow due to a hardening insurance market globally, the increasing threat of catastrophic losses, such as bushfire and other weather events, and a large loss at Selwyn Ski Resort.

We urge all members to complete the survey as it will allow us to gain some further information to inform our response to the Mount Hotham Resort Management Board and Victorian Government regarding the current situation.

Please note the data will be summarised rather than disclose specific lodges or apartments particulars. Results of this survey will be published to members via our website.
