About QATSICPP
Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body representing thirty-eight (38) Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled child protection organisations across the state. Our vision is that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people are physically, emotionally and spiritually strong, live in safe and caring environment within their own families and communities, and are afforded the same life opportunities available to all children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Solid Voices Youth Council
QATSICPP is committed to recognising and elevating the knowledge and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. To further this commitment, QATSICPP employed a First Nations Youth Policy Officer at the beginning of 2024 to develop and lead the Solid Voices Youth Council. The Solid Voices Youth Council will consist of seven Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people recruited directly from our member organisations. Council members will be selected from across the state, with a focus on bringing together young people with diverse experiences and perspectives. Together, QATSICPP and the Solid Voices Youth Council will amplify the voices of children and young people across the state, grow our young leaders for tomorrow and work together to make sure that services, policies, and systems work for our children and young people now and into the future.

To assist our members to support their young employees to participate in this opportunity, QATSICPP have established a budget to compensate host member organisations for the young person's time spent on the youth council. Financial compensation will be paid to the relevant member organisation in three instalments – at commencement, at six months, and at 12 months.

For Council members who are volunteers, QATSICPP will work with Member Organisations to identify how the allocated QATSICPP funds to support the organisation hosting a youth council member will be used, this could include the organisation paying the young person to recognise their time spent on the project. Member Organisations will need to support these volunteers similarly to employees, providing access to necessary resources such as internet and workspace, ensuring they can meaningfully participate in Council activities.
