Criteria & Content
The Contractor of the Year Award celebrates contractors who have exhibited excellence in field execution and the application of effective erosion and sediment control practices. Nominees will be acknowledged for their outstanding achievements on one or multiple projects or for their contributions to the development of new practices. Recipients must be active members of IECA and attend the 2025 IECA Annual Conference and Expo.

Judging Criteria
- Execution of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices (15 points): How has the individual or organization demonstrated excellence in the execution of erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance on single or multiple projects, exceeding normal compliance guidelines?
- Leadership in Compliance (15 points): How did the steps taken in the construction project's compliance demonstrate leadership?
- Compliance Inspections and Field Assessments (10 points): Has the construction project passed all compliance inspections and field assessments?
- Meeting Objectives and Schedule (10 points): Did the contractor meet the objectives and schedule of the client/owner while maintaining compliance?
A total of 50 points are available. Nominations must achieve at least 50% of the available points in each judging criterion and at least 75% of the overall points to qualify for an award. Additional points are awarded for the number of years as a member of IECA.

- Project Description (Maximum 400 words): Describe the project(s) that demonstrate excellence in field execution and application of effective erosion and/or sediment control practices and the steps taken to ensure construction project compliance.
- Products and BMPs Used (Maximum 400 words): Describe the products and Best Management Practices (BMPs) used to help achieve construction project compliance.
- Project Details (400 words): Identify the location, beginning and completion dates (as applicable) for the project(s). Describe features, special accomplishments, problems, challenges, or other unique aspects of the project(s), and how the contractor played an exemplary role in the leadership and/or execution of erosion and sediment control aspects of the project(s) that ensured compliance.
- Professional References: Include two professional references. References cannot be family members of the nominee. Awards committee representatives may contact the individuals providing recommendations during the review process.

Nominators may include optional content to highlight the attributes of the individual or organization to supplement the mandatory content. Optional content allows the nominator to strengthen the case for the nomination.

- For additional content (references, letters of recommendation, photos, etc.), email files to membership@ieca.org. Format optional content to facilitate electronic distribution and review. If possible, compile optional materials into a single file or provide a clear summary of separate files. Optional content should not exceed 5 pages and may or may not be reviewed by the Awards Committee.
