Organizations who are looking for one of the following services are encouraged to apply below:
- Grant Review. Nonprofit Center staff will help organizations to fine-tune their grant applications and/or grant readiness by providing feedback about mission and impact narratives, assist in clarifying project goals and outcomes, and review budgets for potential gaps or questions.
- Customized training. Trainings are customized, both in content and length, and are presented at the time and location of your choosing. The content and agenda for the training is based on organizational needs and priorities. Training can be for the board and/or staff of a nonprofit. Popular training topics for boards include roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards, recruiting new board members, engaging board members for peak performance, the board’s role in fund development, and how to effectively communicate your mission. Popular training topics for staff include Logic Model, Developing a Measurement & Eval Plan, Grant Readiness and Writing, Project Management and Delegation, and more!
- Organizational assessment. Organizational assessments consist of the self-evaluation and prioritization of 45 indicators in leadership, operational, revenue, and program development, and community engagement. Interviews with stakeholders is included as well as getting feedback from the board. This information is compiled by the Nonprofit Center, and shared with your organization as a report with a draft action plan. The report and draft action plan are presented to staff and Board for discussion, feedback, and suggested amendments. Then the final report is given to your organization to use as a living planning tool.
- Board assessment. The Nonprofit Center facilitates an assessment for your Board. The assessment will be conducted anonymously, online, and will be completed by Board members and the Executive Director. Participants will evaluate the Board’s performance in fulfilling Board roles and responsibilities and establish the priorities of the organization. The Nonprofit Center will analyze the data and prepare a report of Governance Action plan recommendations to share with the Board for discussion and adoption.
If approved, the project scope will be finalized with the Nonprofit Center. All details of the project (including Question 3 below) will be kept confidential to the Nonprofit Center.
The Nonprofit Center has been conducting and facilitating board trainings since its inception in 2002 and is the local expert in nonprofit board governance, training dozens of nonprofit organizations and Boards each year.
All Nonprofit Center-facilitated trainings and meetings are as interactive as possible and tailored for the specific group of participants. To ensure that you get the most out of your project, the Nonprofit Center facilitator will work closely with organization leadership ahead of time to incorporate organization-specific expectations and information into it.
Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis but all projects must have started and be completed by the end of the calendar year (December 2024).
