Outstanding Member

The Outstanding Member Award recognizes an AAE member whose outstanding service and dedication to AAE enhance the mission of AAE. The recipient of this award is an AAE member who went above and beyond the call of duties and responsibilities expected of an AAE member or board of directors.

An eligible AAE member will be considered for the Outstanding Member Award if he/she has fulfilled at least one of the following criteria

-Outstanding service and dedication to AAE
-Leadership on assigned committee/work
-AAE mission focus
-A substantial amount of work contributed over a period of time -Cost-effectiveness – making suggestions that save time/money -Initiative and/or creativity

Outstanding Asthma Educator

The Outstanding Asthma Educator Award Recognizes a member’s contributions to educating and mentoring in the areas of asthma care and prevention, such as:
·Outstanding teaching based on contemporary, research-based knowledge of asthma ·Outstanding lectures or casework on asthma education
·The development of effective asthma education programs

Humanitarian and Outstanding Asthma Community Service

The Humanitarian and Outstanding Asthma Community Service Award honors the AAE member with a longstanding commitment to addressing community needs related to asthma. The award recognizes exceptional programs that go well beyond the traditional role of medicine and recognizes the outreaching of communities whose needs are not being met through the traditional health delivery system.

Asthma Research

The Recognition Award for Asthma Research aims to recognize outstanding achievements and progress in research made by an asthma educator during his/her career; and whose outstanding work in asthma and/or asthma education contributed to the understanding, prevention, and management of asthma. Candidates may be considered for contributions made throughout his/her career or for major contributions made at a particular point in his/her career.


Nomination Procedure:

Nominees do not need to be present at the conference.
Award recipients do not need to be present at the conference to receive an award.



o Candidate must be an AAE member in good standing

o Nominator must be an AAE member in good standing



o Provide a statement of fewer than 500 words that comments on the candidate’s service and dedication to the AAE.

o Self-nomination is accepted with a letter of support from a fellow AAE member.
