Contest Guidelines

There is no entry fee to submit a design. Artists must be between the ages of 8-13 and reside in the state of Oklahoma. Individuals are allowed to submit up to three (3) designs. Artists' designs must be submitted by a parent or guardian on their behalf.

Rules and Guidelines
This contest is open to all 8-13 year-olds residing in the state of Oklahoma. All designs must be original creations of the artist and incorporate all of the required design components outlined below. Submissions must not have been previously published and must not contain profanity, trademarks, other organization's logos, or any copyrighted works of any other person or business. Design(s) must be submitted in .JPG format, on the T-Shirt Contest website via the submission form by 11:59pm (CT) on October 31, 2023 Designs may be created using any artistic medium (marker, crayon, watercolor, digital, etc). However, the STEAM Engine reserves the right to modify the artwork to be fit to print. Artwork will be printed onto T-shirts with a single color. Artists are encouraged to use a single color when creating their artwork. Note: the color you use for the artwork MAY NOT be the color used for printing on the t-shirts The parent/guardian of the winning artist agrees to sign a waiver to allow The STEAM Engine the use of their child's design, free of charge, for any and all printing and promotional purposes. By submitting your child's artwork, you are granting the STEAM Engine a free license, in perpetuity, to utilize the design on t-shirts and other promotional items, and marketing, fundraising, and public relations materials. You are guaranteeing that your design does not contain any copyrighted or protected material. By submitting your child's entry, you are agreeing to all contest rules. If you have any questions, please email info@steamengineokc.org Required Design Components The winning design will be placed on the front of the first annual STEAM Engine promotional T-shirt for 2024. Theme: Design theme must include "What STEAM means to me" (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). It could be about a career aspiration, how STEAM makes them feel, their STEAM hero, or any other STEAM-related design, so long as it is kid-friendly. Colors: The winning design will be printed on a solid color t-shirt using a single color of ink. The STEAM Engine reserves the right to select the tshirt and ink color to best fit the winning design. Design can use up to four (4) of the following approved colors. ​ How a Winner is Selected Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges from the STEAM Engine Community and will be reviewed for: Concept and originality of design Visibility from a reasonable distance Adherence to design and submission rules and guidelines Upon final review, the top five (5) designs will be presented for public voting online from the community. Voting will run from November 15th-December 15th. If a tie breaker is required, the STEAM Engine Board of Directors select the winner from the tied public votes.
