Iowa Community Action Association (ICAA) is a 501(c)(3) state association hosting Spark - A Summit for Good. This transformative summit is a convening of Community-Based Organizations and their advocates interested in creating pathways for economic mobility to strengthen our Iowa communities, families, and individuals.
ICAA is seeking workshop presenters for this event, being held at the West Des Moines Marriott (WDM, Iowa) July 24-25, 2024.
Wednesday, July 24th is designed for Community Action Agency Staff & Board Members seeking to learn the latest insights, innovation, and opportunities within the Community Action network. While Thursday, July 25th is designed for Community Partners, and Community Action Agency Staff & Board Members who are dedicated to catalyzing positive change in the world.
ICAA welcomes proposals from partners across the state, region and national network of nonprofits and businesses with a focus on economic mobility and economic justice.
Members from the Conference Planning Committee will provide onsite support for all presenters.
Proposal Submissions are due by February 16th.
We are seeking presenters to address a variety of economic mobility and economic justice topics, while integrating a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout:
Advocacy - Tools for storytelling, translating data into stories, and connecting with decision-makers and the public in an increasingly polarized world. Specific case studies about what works.
Client-Centered Work - Case management tools and takeaways for dynamic, capacity driven partnerships with participants.
Food Insecurity - Notes from the field - local partnerships - sharing what works.
Housing - New and innovative strategies or partnerships that are moving the needle on creating and maintaining housing for people experiencing low incomes.
Human Resources - Recruiting and Retaining staff, supervisory skills topics, communication and de-escalation.
Maternal & Child Health - New and innovative strategies for engaging this population with outreach services, and supporting the staff that serve them.
Rural Strategies in Community Development - How communities of 50,000 or smaller are tackling job development, transportation constraints, food and healthcare deserts and housing shortages.
