Introduction

Thank you for your interest in the Clinical Education Initiative (CEI)'s summer 2024 Preceptorship Program, hosted in collaboration with the Respectful and Equitable Access to Comprehensive Healthcare (REACH) Program at Mount Sinai and OnPoint NYC!

Through a combination of on-demand didactic training, webinars and experiential learning via in-person clinical shadowing, participants will enhance clinical knowledge and build skills to provide hepatitis C and drug user health care and treatment. This program is open to all New York State-based clinicians, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified midwifes and pharmacists.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
  • Attend 1-hour Preceptorship Program opening webinar July 26, 2024 at 1:00pm
  • Complete three (3) on-demand trainings available on CEI's webiste prior to clinical shadowing
  • Participate in half day (9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00) in-person clinical shadowing at REACH July 30-August 09, 2024 with the option to visit OnPoint NYC's Harlem location before/after (date of clinical shadowing to be confirmed upon acceptance into program)
    • Shadow experienced clinical providers in a low threshoold, harm reduction medical practice, sit in on patient visits and discuss best practices for clinical care
  • Attend 1-hour Preceptorship Program closing webinar September 20, 2024 at 1:00pm

Co-located within Mount Sinai Hospital’s Internal Medicine Associates at 17 East 102nd Street on the upper East side of Manhattan, The REACH Program provides patient- and harm reduction-centered primary care for persons who use alcohol and other drugs, and for individuals living with hepatitis C.

OnPoint NYC is the largest harm reduction service provider on the east coast, responsible for operating two overdose prevention centers that provide safe environments for pre-obtained substance consumption while under the care of trained professionals. They are dedicated to improving the health, safety and wellbeing of marginalized people who use drugs or engage in sex work.
