2024 Industry Pipeline Safety Management Systems Annual Survey
Background & System Questions
APGA is participating in the following survey in support of the Industry Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS) team, which consists of natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline operators, as well as all the industry trade associations (AGA, APGA, API, INGAA, LEPA, and GPA Midstream) representatives.
APGA began participating in this survey in 2018 and will continue to redistribute it on an annual basis and in order to show progress. We ask that all member systems complete the survey every year. This year, we developed two versions of the survey based on an operator’s implementation status. For those still considering, just starting out on their journeys, or less than three years into implementation, you will receive different questions than systems that are three or more years into the implementation. Participation in a particular survey will not be communicated externally, and every operator should be able to respond.
This survey is being conducted by the PSMS Industry Team. This Team is representative every sector of the pipeline industry (liquid pipeline, gas transmission, and gas distribution). The purpose of the Team is to enhance safe pipeline operations by supporting pipeline operators in the adoption and implementation of API RP 1173, Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS). The data gathered through this survey will remain anonymous and will be aggregated. The results will be used in communications with external stakeholders to articulate the industry’s commitment to PSMS and the progress made, as well as better inform the activities and priorities of the Industry Team.
The responses to this survey will be received, anonymized, and aggregated by APGA before being made available to the Industry PSMS team. For additional information and background about this survey, please contact Erin Kurilla, ekurilla@apga.org.
NOTE: This survey is a joint industry effort and will be sent by multiple industry trade associations including AGA, API, LEPA, INGAA, and GPA Midstream.
This survey will remain open until November 22, 2024.
