1. The 2024 Luso-Asian / Macanese Survey

This is a short survey (11 questions) conducted by the Portuguese and Macanese Studies Project - a University of California, Berkeley research group, and The School of Public Health at Georgia State University. Both institutions are located in the United States. All questions are presented in English and Portuguese. The first 8 questions are to gather demographic information and to determine the cultural identities within Luso-Asian/Macanese communities around the world. The last 3 questions are to assess the general physical and mental health of all respondents. No individual responses or contact information will be shared with third parties.

Este é um pequeno inquérito (11 perguntas) realizado pelo Projecto de Estudos Portugueses e Macaenses - de pesquisa de Universidade de Califórnia, Berkeley e Escola de Saúde Pública da Universidade Estadual da Geórgia (Georgia State University). Ambas as instituições estão localizadas nos Estados Unidos. Todas as questões são apresentadas em inglês e português. As primeiras 8 questões destinam-se a recolher informações demográficas e a determinar as identidades culturais nas comunidades luso-asiáticas/macaenses em todo o mundo. As últimas 3 questões destinam-se a avaliar a saúde física e mental geral de todos os entrevistados. Nenhuma resposta individual ou informação de contato será compartilhada com outras organizações.

Please complete all questions if you or your family are "Macanese", that is, descendants of mixed-race Portuguese from Asia (Luso-Asians - Tou San) with family connections in China and India, and specifically from Goa, Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Canton, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore or Timor. Your ancestors need not be from Macau, but there should be a cultural connection in your family to the Portuguese in Asia during the last 500 years.
