About the Academy
Due to Hurricane Milton, the dates for the FEPA Emergency Management Academy will be changed. The Academy will be still be hosted at the Manatee County EOC but the dates will now be from Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1PM (EDT) to Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11AM (EDT) in Bradenton, Florida. This seven-day intensive training program is designed for new emergency management professions with five or fewer years in the industry.

The Academy will be still be hosted at the Manatee County EOC but the dates will now be from Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1PM (EDT) to Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11AM (EDT) in Bradenton, Florida. This seven-day intensive training program is designed for new emergency management professions with five or fewer years in the industry.
The Academy is a practitioner-based training that includes instruction on emergency management fundamentals and best practices. Designed to mimic a real-world activations, students will have the opportunity to participate in a week-long simulated exercise, combined with information instruction from the industry's leading professionals. A team of experienced cadre and previous graduates from the program will serve as mentors for the students throughout the week.
In addition to receiving 24 hours of certification credits towards the five mission areas (prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery), the Academy curriculum can be used as exercise credit towards EMPG requirements.

1. The prerequisite courses required for the academy include:
- IS-100 C. Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS 100
- IS-200 C. Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
- IS-700 B. An Introduction to the National Incident Command System (NIMS)
- IS-800 D. National Response Framework An Introduction
- IS-2200: Basic Emergency Operation Center Operations Functions
- Professional Development Series (IS 120.C, 230.E, 235.C, 240.C, 242.C, & 244.B)
*ALL prerequisites must be completed and uploaded into your SERT Trac profile upon application submission.
2. Cost for FEPA members is $350/person; $450/person for non-FEPA members (cost includes membership for the Association). Please complete the registration payment form and send to erainey@fepa.org. If paying by check, please mail to FEPA 400 Capital Circle SE 18-263, Tallahassee, FL 32301. Receipt upon payment will be sent via email.
3. Meals and lodging are included in the cost of the academy. Lodging will be dormitory/squad bay style and ALL students are required to sleep at the EOC throughout the duration of the Academy.
