Coaching Qualifications
The selection process for coaching positions in the USA Ultimate national team program are highly competitive and highly selective. As an applicant please understand that not getting and interview or being selected in no ways diminishes your accomplishments as a coach. USA Ultimate goal is to select from the best coaches, the coaches that best fit the position that is open.
Qualifications to be a coach of one of the U-24 Women’s, Men’s, or Mixed National teams:
- Must have an active coach level USA Ultimate membership
- Must agree to the USA Ultimate National Team Coach Code of Conduct
In order to be considered, all applicants must be able to attend the following:
- Two Tryout Camps
- Week long training camp and any additional training weekends (locations and timing TBD with coach input)
- WFDF U-24 World Championships: TBD expected Summer 2021
Inability to commit to all of these dates can result in disqualification from candidacy for any 2021 U-24 coaching positions.
Assistant Coaches will be selected by the USA Ultimate Coaching Committee, USA Ultimate staff, and the corresponding head coach.
All U-24 Team Assistant Coaches will have a demonstrated commitment to strong character and sportsmanship and will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Ability and willingness to work with USAU administration
- Ability to work with players in the under-24 age group
- Experience with international competition
- Must have demonstrated excellence in achievement (in terms of results, outcomes, consistency) in their coaching roles
- Must have demonstrated excellence as a coach, both in terms of strategy, building a positive team culture and in terms of team building
- Must have demonstrated that they are capable of coordinating and managing different people and organizations, all the while, dealing with the stress and pressure that comes with competition and expectations.
- Must have demonstrated the ability to work within the team concept when it is defined by someone else.
In addition to filling out this application, all applicants must send a resume, which includes non-ultimate related experience, to tom.manewitz@hq.usaultimate.org
The deadline for the application is April 26, 2020 11:59 pm PST. All applications must be completed and submitted online through this survey and have a resume emailed to USA Ultimate in order to be considered.
