Description of Awards:

Superhero Award: This award recognizes an individual in the community that goes above and beyond to promote a healthy community. The Superhero award is modelled after a superhero as they possess abilities beyond those of ordinary people, and typically use their capabilities to help the world become a better place.

Lifetime Achievement: This award honours a passionate and dedicated physician, who during their career, has made substantial contributions and significantly impacted the promotion of health and wellness in the local community.

Excellence in Technology: This award celebrates an individual who demonstrates excellence in technology development and/or implementation that improves patient care.

Leadership: Presented to a role model who personifies authenticity, respect, fosters diversity, and consistently contributes to the stewardship and/or empowerment of others.

Unsung Hero Award: This award celebrates an individual with commitment, consistency, and excellence, and has previously been unrecognized, often working behind the scenes.

Remote and/or Outreach Champion: This award recognizes and celebrates an outstanding individual or a group that makes a difference in any remote community.

Excellence in Patient Care: Awarded to an outstanding individual who best demonstrates exemplary dedication to patient care in their practice and/or community.

Innovations in Patient Care: This award is designed to recognize an individual that has contributed to local innovations or improvements in practice or healthcare delivery to improve the quality of patient, family, and community care experiences.

Excellence in Partnership: This award recognizes working towards partnerships with stakeholders, improving collaboration, mutual understanding, and trust.

Excellence in Education & Competency: This award recognizes an individual or group who has made outstanding efforts in health education.

Community Advocacy & Integrity: This award recognizes the contributions of an individual, group, or organization working to trans
form, educate, empower, and support individuals in the community through advocacy and awareness.

NOMINATIONS:
Members of the the Campbell River Medical Society Engagement Initiative and Campbell River & District Division of Family Practice are eligible to nominate a person for an award. Later this fall, we will have paper copies of the nomination form in the physician's lounge, and will also circulate an online nomination form later this fall via e-mail, and it will be available on our websites as well.  

PROCESS FOR CHOOSING WINNERS: 
  • Winners are chosen by majority voting from physicians who participate in the nomination process - the physician who receives the majority of votes in that category is declared the winner.
  • In cases where there is a tie, or a physician wins several awards, a selection committee will determine the winners. The selection committee will consist of the  Physician Wellness physicians (2), plus 3-4 additional physician members.  
  • No members of the Physician Wellness committee are eligible for an award
  • Limit of one award per physician per year
