Enhancing Cultural Responsiveness in the Courts Training is an interactive training for court staff that explores culture and court responses to culturally specific domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
Enhancing Cultural Responsiveness in the Courts Training is an interactive training for court staff that explores culture and court responses to culturally specific domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
• Assess barriers survivors from different communities may face in the criminal and civil justice systems and design strategies for overcoming those challenges.
• Learn and engage with a Mentor Court team, including judges, who will share their experiences and promising practices in addressing challenges that survivors from diverse communities encounter.
• Develop action plans and access additional resources and technical assistance in order to facilitate increased access to safety and justice in domestic violence cases.

Who may apply?
Attendance is limited to 40 participants representing Justice for Families, Improving Criminal Justice Response (ICJR), Rural and STOP and their OVW grant partners can participate and use their OVW travel funds to send court staff and partners to this training. The ideal team consists of 3 to 4 participants that work with DV/SA cases including but not limited to Judge, court clerk, security, court advocates and DV prosecutors unit, and other court-related stakeholders such as domestic violence advocate or civil legal services attorney.

The person submitting the form will be considered the “lead team contact person” and will be the point of contact Casa de Esperanza will use to communicate with and responsible to notify their team for anything related to this application. Please make sure to list the correct email address, as this will be the primary method of communication.
Partially completed applications will not be accepted. We recommend that you set aside a few minutes to complete the entire application. You could also save your answers on a word document ahead of time, and "copy and paste" when you are ready to answer each question.
Training Fee:
This training is sponsored by the Office on Violence Against Women, Department of Justice (OVW) and will be offered at NO COST to participants.
Participants are responsible for their own meals, lodging, and travel arrangements.
OVW grantees and their OVW grant partners can participate and use their OVW travel funds to send grant funded staff and partners to this training.
Participants must attend ALL the training in order to receive reimbursement if OVW funding is used!
