On June 2, 2017, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) submitted the findings of the Health Care Industry Cybersecurity Task Force created under the Cybersecurity Act of 2015. The report outlined the dire state of healthcare cybersecurity and the need for resolute actions by all stakeholders – Congress, the administration, healthcare providers, software developers and medical device manufacturers among others.
Hear from chief information officers (CIOs) and chief information security officers (CISOs) about what they are doing to mitigate cybersecurity risks. Learn more about what HHS is doing to assist healthcare organizations. With healthcare data breaches on the rise, and the potential, as demonstrated through the WannaCry and Petya attacks, to corrupt life-saving medical devices, it’s no easy task to keep healthcare’s highly digital environment secure.
Join members of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS) in recognition of National Health IT Week and Cybersecurity Awareness Month as they recount their experiences with the recent ransomware attacks that have compromised health systems. They also will highlight how their organizations plan to leverage the recommendations made by the task force as well as to outline steps Congress and the administration can take to improve the cybersecurity posture of the healthcare industry.
