Employees are our greatest asset, and we share their time and talents with nonprofits around the world through volunteerism. SurveyMonkey is building a culture around it, encouraging employees to give back to the communities where they live and work.
In recognition of their generosity, we’re highlighting one employee each quarter who is living our #standforequality value through volunteer work. This quarter we’re recognizing Travis Hein from Stittsville, Ontario, Canada. With this recognition, Travis will receive $500 USD to donate to a charity of his choice.
Why do you volunteer and in what ways are you giving back?
I volunteer because I want to give back and make an impact outside of my immediate circle. Lately I have been volunteering with TaprootPlus, a skills-based volunteering platform, helping nonprofits with copywriting and website design. I have also participated in a Mapswipe event with the Red Cross and donated blood.
What is your favorite charity?
I value helping my local community, so my local food bank is my favorite charity.
Any advice to give to others thinking about volunteering?
Often we feel like we are too busy, or not qualified to be helpful to others. But every little bit counts and can make a difference to someone else who appreciates it.
