2013 Raleigh Neighborhood Exchange Registration

RNEX Registration Form

The Raleigh Neighborhood Exchange will be held from 8 am to 2 pm, Saturday, Sept. 21, at N.C. State University's McKimmon Center, 1101 Gorman St. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Registration is $10 for residents for the city of Raleigh or its extraterritorial jurisdiction and $15 for others. Teens, ages 13-18 will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult.

Your check must be received by Wednesday, September 11. On the memo line of the check, be sure to include your name and the names of any others whose registration fees are covered by your check.

1. ABC's of Neighborhood Traffic Calming: Putting the brakes on neighborhood traffic problems - Concerned about speeding and pedestrian safety in your neighborhood? In this session you will learn the step-by-step process for getting a traffic study done in your neighborhood. Learn about new changes/improvements in the City’s regulations and procedures.

2. Neighborhood Success Stories: We did it! - Yearn for the old-fashioned neighborliness from years past? Hear actual stories from Raleigh residents who used neighborhood assets to strengthen the sense of community and overall quality of life. Get ideas on how to jump start your neighborhood’s involvement and build better social dynamics.

3. Neighborhood Leaders Training: Building blocks for neighborhood leadership - Do you want to take a leadership role to organize and improve your neighborhood, but don’t know where to start? In this session you will learn how to engage your neighbors by drawing upon community strengths to increase neighborhood vitality.

4. Do "U" know the UDO: What it is and What it Means for MY Community - Change is coming to Raleigh with the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Learn how the UDO will affect development in and around your neighborhood.

5. YOUTH: Youth Voices: Community and Civic Engagement through Technology - Technology is constantly changing and influencing the ways that young citizens engage within their communities. This presentation will discuss various ways that traditional and social technologies provide youth an opportunity to find their voice. Participants will explore interactive examples of how young people utilize these technologies to impact greater society.

6. YOUTH: Making, Spending and Saving Money the Right Way--Teen Financial Literacy - It's never too early to learn smart financial habits. Whether saving a portion of a weekly allowance or understanding the deductions on the pay stub from a first job, good money management skills instilled at an early age can last a life time. This workshop will teach the basics of sound money management skills. An overview and tips for applying for the Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program will also be covered.
