As you may know, the Inyo-Mono Integrated Regional Water Management Program (IRWMP) has existed for over three years and is working to build collaborative water planning partnerships to improve water supply, water quality, and environmental stewardship through California voter-approved Proposition 84 grants. Very recently, the Inyo-Mono IRWMP was awarded $1,075,000 through the Prop. 84 grant program, which will support seven on-the-ground water projects in Inyo and Mono Counties. These projects address both water quality and water supply needs, and include projects for schools, small water districts, and economically disadvantaged communities. More info on the effort is available at: www.inyomonowater.org
Although the effort already enjoys broad stakeholder support from entities throughout Inyo, Mono, and parts of Kern and San Bernardino Counties, we recognize that the region is large and that we do not yet understand all water-related issues and concerns throughout a region covering approximately 10% of the state of California. Thus, we are asking for your assistance in identifying pressing water related issues and challenges in your community and the types of solutions necessary to address such issues and challenges. We also ask for your help in identifying potential projects that may be suitable for future consideration as part of the IRWMP.
Your time and input is greatly appreciated! Results of the survey will be posted online at the program website around February, 2012. The findings, along with other input, will serve as vital information for the Phase II Inyo-Mono IRWM Plan which is anticipated to be completed by summer 2012.
