Employer Supported Volunteering |
1. Introduction to Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) & Contact Details
Employer Supported Volunteering (also referred to as Employee Volunteering) refers to volunteering activity which is promoted, encouraged and recognised by an employer. It often (though not always) takes place during work time.
Employers offer a wide variety of volunteering potential, with employees who have a range of skills, motivations, and availability on offer. Some will be looking for one-off opportunities that a group of their staff could undertake together, whereas others are open to the idea of individual employees helping charities and voluntary groups on a longer term basis (perhaps utilising their professional skills such as IT or marketing to help, or maybe wanting a complete change from their day job!). Some companies will be looking for specific outcomes for their staff (e.g. skills development, motivation), whereas for others the primary goal is to help their local community.
The aim of this questionnaire is to compile a list of volunteer-involving organisations in Sheffield that can be accessed by local employers who would like to help. The more detail you can provide here, the more likely it is that an employer will contact you to enquire about helping.
Please consider in advance how you would respond to such an enquiry. Is there somebody who could liaise with a representative of the business / organisation who wants to help, to ensure a positive experience?
