Trainee of the Year is presented to a student who demonstrates leadership, resilience and initiative whilst undertaking a School Based Traineeship or Apprenticeship.

* 4. Long Tan Leadership Award
The Long Tan Leadership Award is based on the values upheld by the Australian Defence Force and has been developed in conjunction with Australian schools and the wider community.  Recipients of the award meet the criteria of leadership, teamwork, values, problem solving, resourcefulness, communication, co-operation and community involvement.

A student who
·         is highly regarded by staff, students and (where relevant) external organisations,
·         contributes positively in the classroom, school and the community, assumes a leadership role,
·         has demonstrated respect for diversity and the view of others, has an excellent attitude to education, school and community life,
·         has demonstrated community service and is an outstanding citizen of the school and
·         has a sound academic and attendance record.

The University of Queensland's Young Scholars Program (YSP) provides high achieving secondary school students with a unique and inspiring opportunity to discover, learn and engage with UQ's academic community and like-minded students from across Queensland and New South Wales.

* 8. The UQ Young Achievers Program (UQYAP) is an exciting initiative which aims to support the tertiary study and career aspirations of senior secondary school students who might not otherwise have access to university as a post-school option.

* 9. The Quota International of Beenleigh Quiet Achiever of the Year is awarded to a student who has achieved their personal best by overcoming personal hardship, challenges or setbacks and exceeded all expectations.

* 10. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award is presented to an Indigenous student who strives to give of their best in all areas of their school life.

This award is designed to recognise the student who participates at a high level in all aspects of school life.  This student
·         achieves scholastically across a range of subjects,
·         is willing to help others and make selfless contributions,
·         is exemplary in personal conduct,
·         is a role model to other students,
·         participates in school and community activities and
·         represents the school in the sporting arena as a sporting champion.
