Creating a community facility to be proud of in Caterham, at the Soper Hall

Please support our community bid to Tandridge District Council's Resources Committee, to become the preferred bidder to take over the hall. Time is short - they meet on January 24th and will decide between our bid, another from a local religious group, or to sell for redevelopment. On February 17th the full council will consider their recommendation.
We believe our bid meets all the necessary conditions and is an excellent example of the kind of Community initiative, that Big Society and the Localism Bill launched by the Government is all about.
Caterham is already a prototype Big Society example, through ABC, the Festival, DeFest, Shop Smart and other recent local initiatives. We already have a strong and growing voluntary network, touching various groups, businesses and individuals. It has strong support from local County, District & Parish councillors and Sam Giymah our MP.
The Soper Hall bid is the next step along that path and by completing the requested details, you will be registering your support for our initiative and we will keep you informed of progress.
Although we have over 1,000 people so far who have registered support, our goal is 2,000 or more - about 10% of everyone who lives here.
