The Royal Oak City Commission voted to establish a five-member Normandy Oaks Task Force to review the city-owned property and give careful consideration to repurposing and/or selling all or a portion of the nine-hole public golf course, which has not been generating enough revenue to cover its operating costs.
Findings of the task force include:
* A golf course is not the highest and best use for this property.
* Leasing the property to Oakland County for a county park is not in the best interest of the citizens of Royal Oak.
* Part of the property should be sold to pay for developing the remainder of the property and making improvements to the Royal Oak Golf Course and other city parks.
