On August 25 and 26, NYSCI and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop will be running a study investigating how parents and children select books together. The study requires one parent (or adult such as a grandparent or nanny) and one child who is 3, 4, or 5 years old. Each parent-child pair will look through a mini library of print and electronic books (via an iPad), and then talk to an interviewer for a few minutes about reading together and how you decide which books to read. We will videotape you and your child as you participate in the activity.
The study will take place at NYSCI's Preschool Place. We anticipate that the study will take most families about 15-20 minutes to complete. Your child will receive a small Sesame Street gift for participating.
If you are interested, please fill out the form below so that we can schedule your study time on either August 25 or 26.
When you arrive at NYSCI, you will be asked to sign a consent form to indicate that you agree to take part in the study and be videotaped. The consent form also describes how we will protect your privacy and not use your personal data for anything unrelated to the study.
**Please note, this survey will be closed at 10:00am on the day of the study you are signing up for. To participate after that time, please come to the museum and find someone wearing a Sesame Workshop badge. Thank you**
