DHS Bands Future Tours Survey Question Title * 1. The following poll is designed to gather parental and student opinions regarding the future of DHS Band Tours. There are no plans to cancel traveling at this time. Rather, we want to ask for your help in order to assess how we have done in the past and where we want to go in the future. Trip Goals:When we travel as an organization, we have a singular focus on providing educational experiences that are difficult or impossible to replicate in our home town and school setting. We also believe that travel provides opportunities to learn about the location we are visiting, see and hear other ensembles perform, and work with experts in the band world while getting to know each other better and developing shared experiences. Impact of travel events:In my professional and personal experience, traveling as an organization allows us to use the location we are visiting as an open laboratory for learning. Sharing these experiences with one another builds camaraderie within the organization, allowing us all to get to know one another in a different way. Some of the most valuable lessons I have learned, including many of the best memories I have had, were gathered during these trips. I remember them, and the lessons I learned, well beyond my high school years. ~Tom SlabaughPlease answer the following questions while keeping the aforementioned in your thoughts. Question Title * 2. This means that there is a different trip every year for band students in 10th through 12th grade. Do you think this is a good idea and should this continue in the future? (Could be to the same destinations as in the past or to new destinations, but would include one trip to a different location each year). Yes No Question Title * 7. What is the most important consideration in planning a future DHS Band Trip? Please choose one answer that best represents your views. The trip should be educational and the cost of the location relative to the distance we must travel We can have meaningful experiences without traveling too far and costing the parents (via donations) or the band boosters too much money It is reasonable to have a big trip (e.g. outside of the Western United States) once every three years, regardless of the cost. Past DHS Band Trips have struck an appropriate balance between cost and educational experience. Question Title * 9.
